New Blog! :)

Well, I decided to make a blog just to keep track of everything I've been doing. Hopefully, I'll
have lots of content to post on this blog.
So, to start things off, here's a picture of fondant flowers that I made today.

It's the first time I've attempted fondant flowers. I've never made flowers with royal icing or anything. The only time I've made flowers was when I was working at Dairy Queen and used Freeze Flow, which is pretty similar. All the flowers are made basically the same, but I was still surprised on how easy it was to make these fondant flowers. They don't look perfect, but I like them. :)

I've done some cakes in the past but lately I've been getting on a cake kick. So here's a few I've done within the past month or 2.

This Winnie the Pooh one was for my niece. Normally I try to make as much of the cake as edible as I can, but I haven't mastered the art of figures yet. Maybe another weekend. lol. So, for now they're plastic, although one of my nieces did try to eat poor Pooh because she didn't know he was plastic. hehe. The Hunny Pot is made of rice cereal treats and covered in fondant. The bee is as far as my fondant figures go for now. Everything else is buttercream icing.

So, my dear mother is a Charlie Brown fanatic. She collects everything and anything Charlie Brown.. the living room at my mothers belongs to Charlie Brown. So, for her birthday, I decided to feed her addiction for a cartoon character and made her this. I found a picture I liked off the good old internet and printed it off for a guide. It's all made with buttercream icing and I freehanded it from the picture. I was surprised it actually turned out, as I was expecting a big blog of mixed colors on the cake.

I had alot of fun making this cake for my niece's 1st birthday. My boyfriend helped alot with the structure of the cake because it was my first time making a tiered cake. It's fulled edible except for the dowels I needed to hold it up. The little horses are made from chocolate, major props to the bf again for helping make them. lol.

I made this cake for my 3 year old niece's birthday, it's Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse. This cake took a total of, oh, 9 hours over 2 days to complete. It was my first time attempting something like this and it was great to make. The head body and foot are rice cereal treats I molded, everything is covered in fondant and the grass is buttercream icing. I wish I would have fully thought through the head, as I could only leave it on for pictures because I didn't use a base to hold it up. But, that's how I learn alot of things, just through trial and error. Hell, here's some pictures of Mickey's insides. :)

The ground and Mickey's ears. And... close your children's eyes... but I stole Mickey's head and put it in my freezer. ;)

And that's it for now. Hopefully I will have more cakes to post! Someday I will upload my older cakes I made, but for now, I just want to post current ones. Over the next couple of months I have a few cakes to make for family and friends. Yay for having lots of nieces and a nephew to practice with!
